Plateau Correspondents Chapel set to launch her Almanac on Friday

The Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council, has concluded arrangement to launch her Almanac on Friday 11th December, 2015.

The Chairman, Almanac Planning Commitee Achor Abimaje who disclosed this in a press statement made available to media.

The idea of an almanac launch has become very necessary for the following reasons:

 

  1. Proper identification of our genuine members
  2. To weed out quacks, impersonators and fake journalists operating in our midst.
  3. To sanitise the Correspondents’ Chapel to give some measure of credibility to the profession.

Activities lined up for the event include a paper presentation by the Honourable Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Yakubu Dogara on the topic: ‘THE ROLE OF A JOURNALIST IN DRIVING THE CHANGE AGENDA OF THE PRESENT ADMINISTRATION’.

The Chief Launcher of the almanac is the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Simon Bako Lalong.

The programme will be under the Chairmanship of Distinguished Sen. Shehu Sani, Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

The Chair lady of the occasion is the Director General and Chief Executive of Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Dr Mrs. Juliet Chukkas-Onaeko.

The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Solomon Dalung will be Special Guests of Hounour.

The Speaker Plateau House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Peter Azi and his Deputy, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi as well as Plateau ALGON Chairman, Hon. Stephen Jings are to serve as Co-launchers.

Also to grace the occasion are all the National Assembly members from Plateau State and all local government chairmen in Plateau.

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abdulwheed Odusile is the Chief Host while Chairman NUJ, Plateau State Council, Yakubu Taddy is the host.

The launch has been slated to hold on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Eliel Centre, Gold and Base, Rayfield Jos.
