Plateau Carnival Will Boosts Tourism Potentials –Mr Takon

The Chairman organizing committee of Plateau state 2016 carnival Mr Eric Takon has underscored the role of tourism sector as a valuable and sustainable source of livelihood for millions citizens of Plateau .

Speaking during the swearing – in ceremony of the committee for the 2016 plateau state peace carnival held at the Plateau state ministry of Tourism recently.

Takon encouraged the people to add voice to various calls made across the state on the need for Plateau state government to put greater emphasis on the development of its tourism sector.

According to him, “the corporation under governor Simon Lalong administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure practical development and promotion of domestic tourism, which will propel job creation, develop the state economy, and raise social awareness on cultural preservation and environment protection.

He expressed optimism that with the return of peace in Plateau state and its environments federal and state stands to improve internal revenue generation through tourism sector.

The coordinator of Akwa Ibom state carnival ICC& ELT solution limited which basically a private tourism potential and consultant to states and federal government is to guard on the road map.

Tankon pledged his commitment toward reposition the state tourism sector in the area of boosting tourist potentials and organize conferences seminars, and workshops to attract investors.

He encouraged investors willing key into the idea of promoting the tourist potential in partnership with the Lalong government which is the five pillars policy of the government in showcasing the rich culture of the people.

“Plateau state has a better advantage over so many other states to benefit from tourism .we have the advantage of weather and population ,tourism contributes 50% to the global GDP but as at now ,plateau state is going to be benefiting from tourism with cannibal festival organize to sensitize people “he explained.

“I need to emphasize that plateau has the best of the ingredients of tourism ,we have fascinating tourist sites ,enviable cultural festivals ,good weather ,good and hospitable people “,he noted .

Takon stresses that it is because of the warmth and friendliness of our people, environment and potentials, adding that the potential of tourism in plateau is N4million prayed that government should take privatization to the next level and further facilitate an enabling environment for tourism to thrive in the state.

The commissioner for Tourism Plateau state, Hon Peter. Mwankon while declaring the committee of

“The Jos carnival committee” open said the primary purpose /role of the committee is to plan, develop and deliver a high quality carnival and use the underlying values as a vehicle to engage and advance community cohesion to drive Tourism across border.

Mwankon said to ensure that the carnival is fully inclusive and equitable for all (young and old, artisans and professionals, locals and foreigners.

The committee is responsible for raising funds for the carnival activities and to also hold the funds in its own bank account, it’s explained.

The committee shall form sub-committee, determine their membership, roles and responsibilities, thee committee tenure shall be for two years renewable based on. Initial performance, the statement revealed.
