Tension brewed as Plateau State, Forum of Former Leaders warned the government against inciting the judgment of the Appeal Court by calling on the National Judicial Service Council, (JSC) of Nigeria to reverse the lopsided judgments as they rejected the verdict of the Appeal Court.
The spokesperson of the group, Yakubu Ibrahim disclosed this in Jos, in a world press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Plateau State Council on the recent tribunal judgment.
He said,” Plateau youth reject vehemently the outcome of judgments from the Court of Appeal, that the forum of former Youth leaders is fully conscious of the grand plan of some vested interest groups and personalities to further destabilize and ridicule the state, just like is the case in other middle belt states.
Plateau founding fathers, Col.J.D. Gomwalk , Chief Solomon Daushep Lar,Sen.Jonah David Jang and all other prominent state leaders suffered the same fate but, we still remained resolute and undaunted in this struggle “, he said.
According to him,” The court as an umpire, must be able to see that what is more important at this point, is the issue of nomination /sponsorship, locus standing, legitimacy, and popularity of the party candidate aftermath of any further decision rather than legal sophistication “.
However, Plateau people are peace-loving citizens, therefore, any efforts by some people to suppress their collective resolve would certainly be resisted, as they’ve expressed their mandate in a legitimate manner, it is on record that PDP won all the state and National elections seats winning the two Plateau senatorial districts with landslide victory, he said.
Yakubu stated that PDP won 16 state assemblies out of the 24 members and six out of the 8 federal houses of representatives’ seats so we are urging the Appeal Court to wade into the judicial wrong judgments ditch out to create acrimony between the state actors.
He called on the NJC to thoroughly set up a committee to review the procured judgments and set aside numerous judgments which had lost credibility and jurisprudence in the jurist’s world.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should urgently address the critical injustice and address the threat posed by greedy politicians not to allow people to resort to safe defense, he stated.
