There is Tension in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Plateau State Chapter as a factional group headed by Samuel Gyang has rejected the leadership of Hon. Hanatu Gagara, calling her an intruder who wants to enjoy the party coalition without the proper channel.

Hon .Silas Audu Wettok, the State Publicity Secretary at a world press conference held on  Sunday 13th July 2025 in Jos, asked Hon.Hanatu Gagara to stop parading herself as the party state chairman because they’re compelled to address the general public especially those on the Plateau in respect of the current political development in the country.

Hon.Silas disclosed that since the inception of the current political dispensation in 1999, things seem to be getting worse day by day.

Nigerians are now pushed to the wall due to the unpopular policies of this current government, hence the need for a credible political alternative in the country.

He pointed out that ADC is not a new political party in Nigeria, as speculated by some sections of the media across the country.

We are one of the strongest registered political parties since 2003, and we have been very consistent and reliable.

Silas Audu Wettok noted that the ongoing coalition in the country is not the same as the type that took place in 2013, not at all! This is the biggest and most powerful coalition in our country’s political history, indicating the desperation of Nigerians for a peaceful political revolution come 2027.

He added that the African Democratic Congress is willing to assimilate all patriotic Nigerians who are ready and willing to build a greater Nigeria of our dreams.

He disclosed that, they were directed from the National Headquarters by  Oke Nwonsu led National Working Committee (NWC) that all the states structures should remain intact, this is because the states had their congresses in 2022, supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in line with the provision of the Electoral Act. 2022.

More so, from now on, all directives are to be taken from the office of the Interim National Chairman, Distinguished Senator David Mark, and the Interim National Secretary, Raul Aregbesola, while that of the Plateau State will come directly from the office of the State Chairman, Hon. Samuel Pam Gyang.

Silas Audu Wettok assured Nigerians of their determination to change the political narrative in the country and this can only happen when we come together as one people to fight our common enemy.

Nigeria is the only country we have and we must do everything we can to make it better.

He said their attention was  drawn to an online publication circulating on Social Media by a self-acclaimed person parading herself as the ADC Chairman in the State, contradicting article “E” of the party’s constitution.

We want to inform all citizens of Plateau, especially our teaming supporters, to stop having any political transactions with her, as doing so will be at the person’s risk and ADC will not be held responsible thereafter.

Also, the so-called list of the 36 states Chairmen and the F.C.T. Flying online is another handiwork of our political enemies who want to distract Nigerians with fake information, looking for space to create tension among our supporters.

We thank God for the swift response of the Interim National Secretary, Raul Aregbesola, who not only debunked it, but condemned and issued a strong warning to the perpetrators of such information to desist from such or face the rod of the law.

“We are guided by the rules of law; therefore, we cannot treat the party like a private entity,”  he added.

We are very much aware of the activities by some bad eggs across the country who are working hard to sabotage the unity of Nigerians particularly on this current coalition because everyone can see the handwriting on the wall, and Nigerians are throwing their weights like a whirlwind on this coalition, and by God’s grace, we shall conquer.

Our party here on the Plateau is well structured with elected officials across all the 17 Local Government Areas whose tenure will elapse in 2026.

The registration of new members will commence as soon as we receive a directive from the National Headquarters in Abuja.

Once again, on behalf of our Interim National Chairman, Distinguished Senator, David Mark, the state Chairman, Hon Samuel Pam Gyang, and all the members of the State Working Committee, we want to sincerely thank the peaceful citizens of Plateau for believing in us and our great party ADC.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Plateau State chapter of ADC in the 2023 general elections,Hon .Solomon Nandy Chendan debunked that as the leader of the party, the only person recognized as the state chairman is Hon.Hanatu Gagara .

He said that anyone dealing with Hon.Samuel Gyang is doing that at their own risk.

According to him, Plateau State ADC has an existing structure of leadership across the 17 LGAs, so Hon.Samuel Gyang should stop parading himself as the state chairman.

Also, speaking with the former Governorship candidate of the party, and now the North-Central organizing secretary, Your Excellency Sabiu Ibrahim Musa, on the same issue, but refused to admit the leadership of Hon .Samuel Gyang .

The two ADC chieftains rejected the leadership of Samuel Gyang by calling on him to step a side and stop parading himself as the state chairman .

Sabiu Ibrahim explained further that the party in Plateau state conducted their peaceful congress, where Mrs. Hanatu Gagara emerged as the sole chairman, so whoever is now coming through the back door to create acrimony between the state chapter won’t be given the chance to continue.

He stated that ADC in Plateau state is well structured for the coming national coalition, as they congratulated the interim Exco under the leadership of Sen.David Mark .
