The Plateau State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Farmer  Dung Daweng Pam, has described Dr Peter Obi’s defection to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC ) as that of a selfish politician who is only thinking of himself rather than rescuing the Nigerian masses.

He said that their goal in ADC is to produce good candidates who can give Nigerian citizens better representation at all levels.

According to him, they have three aspirants who purchased expression forms to contest the governorship under the platform of  ADC platform, all of whom are credible, and whoever emerges will be capable of leading the state.

He explained that the party has concluded arrangements for the state congress rescheduled to hold on the 18th May ,2026, saying it will enter the upcoming primary more united, as the party has positioned itself as an alternative for the 2027 general elections.

The State Chairman stressed that the party is “looking inwards” to select credible candidates and improve the well-being of the Nigerian electorate.

Pam denied reports that defections had weakened the party in the country. We are a credible alternative to end bad governance; some coalition members left to join the NDC, citing Peter Obi.

He acknowledged that he was ardent supporter of Dr Peter Obi in 2023 and funded his  campaign in Barkin Ladi, but now accuses him of “thinking of himself” rather than Nigerians.

He said they remained in  ADC to continue to advocate for the welfare of ordinary citizens. The Nigerian People are suffering.

He criticized the current government for creating what he called confusion and urged residents to consider  ADC as an alternative. The party is  working hard to reach all the nooks and crannies of the state through grassroots mobilization

Pam identified security as the most urgent issue facing Plateau residents.

“Security is the main issue hitting Plateau. Everyone feels vulnerable, regardless of where they live,” and “ADC in Plateau will make security its top priority.”

Political parties in Plateau have begun early positioning ahead of the 2027 governorship and legislative elections. Pam disclosed that  ADC’s campaign will focus on party unity, a transparent primary process, and security.
