No fewer than 8 people were crushed to death by a heavy duty truck conveying 600 bags of Mama pride rice belonging to National Emergency Management Agency in Idadu community of Doma Local Government of Nasarawa state.

A survival of the fatal incident, Abdullahi Wanzan in an interview with universalreporters247.com affirmed that he survived the black day.

According to him who was a local barber by the roadside said the incident happened at about 7:30-8:00am Monday morning.

“I had people shouting run for your life before I know what is happening I was hit by the fast moving truck which lost control and in the process destroyed two households by the roadside”.

One of the survival and landlord who lost his aged mother, Danjuma Omaku expressed shocked over the sudden death of his mother, Otunsha Omaku in the early hours of Monday.

According to Danjuma Omaku, “Majority of those that died in my abode are sympathizers who came to sympathise with my mother over the passing away of a family member whose seven days prayer was Monday.

“They are at my compound sympathizing with my mother when the moving truck lost control.

He listed those that died to include

1.Otunsha Omaku

2.Obogayi Omaku

3.Oladi Ismaila

4.Hajiya Asabe Giza

5.Asibi Kadarko

6.Iyatu from Giza

Including a Fulani woman and her little baby also died on the spot.

Appealing on the Federal Government and owner of the transport company to assist his family to start a new life.

“I lost over five rooms including shops and I have nowhere to go to”,he pleaded.

He in addition said 2 casualties were recorded in his neighborhood whom he listed as

1.Christopher Osabo

2.Daniel Iyimoga, stating that some of the casualties are admitted at Doma General Hospital while some were admitted at Primary Health Care in Igbabu.

Feelers unfolded that the driver who was drunk lost control an headed towards a building,

The Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ogashuwa in a telephone conversation opined that the truck was not Olam Farms truck.

He averred that the truck was conveying Federal Government rice to a destination which he did not disclosed.

The Sector Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Commission could not be reached for comment as at press time.

Team of Policemen, NAYES and Vigilante were stationed at the spot where the rice with inscription “Federal Government rice “.
