Ayuba Mafi

The Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN) has yesterday performed an ordination ceremony on 47 newly appointed Reverends, tasking them to be faithful and dedicated while discharging their duties as priests.

Performing the ordination ceremony at the Provincial Church Council (PCC) headquarters, Tafawa Balewa in Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi state, the President of the COCIN, Reverend Professor, Dachollom C. Datiri also called on the ordained Reverends to carry their wives along in the cause of performing their duties.

Prof Datiri Charged the newly ordained pastors to be faithful and dedicated to the service as according to him, the Priesthood is full of challenges.

Speaking at the occasion, the Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohamed expressed appreciation to the church for extending its invitation to him.

Represented by the state Commissioner of agriculture, Barr Jidauna Tula Mbami, the Governor charged the newly ordained pastors to be faithful in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Commissioner said, no Government has carried the Christian believers along in governance like the present Bala Mohammed’s led administration in the entire history of Bauchi state.

The Commissioner, therefore, solicited prayers from the members of the church for the Governor to succeed in his vision and mission of taking the state to the promised land.

Speaking shortly after being ordained, Reverend Appolos Jonathan of LCC Birshi Gandu in RCC Kagadama, thanked the leadership of the COCIN and the people in general for the prayers and support given to them during the ordination.

Another newly ordained pastor from PCC Borno, Reverend Amos Warda thanked the Almighty God for making the day be a reality, promising to make good use of what they learned during their studies.

The chairman of Provincial Church Councils (PCC) Kabwir, Reverend Abraham Seri in a goodwill message read from the book of 2 Timothy 3:1-9 with the theme: The challenges facing the work of pastors in this days”.

Rev. Seri said that “the work of pastors can be compared to that of the soldiers because you don’t know where to be posted for your primary assignment”.

He advised the newly ordained pastors to avoid the love of money and materialism in order to escape God’s punishment.

“The pastoral work is very good and if you depend on God, he will see you through”, he said
