The leadership of Owerri West Journalists Association, OJA, ably led by the Chairman, Chief Sunny Ejiogu, from Ohii Autonomous Community in Owerri West LGA, Imo State, of Newspoint Newspaper Owerri, with some members of the association, on Saturday, Nov.9th 2019, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Hon. Allwell Nwakali, of Eziobodo Autonomous Community in Owerri West LGA, Imo State.
It was gathered that the young politician, Chief Allwell Nwakali, was touched to aspire for the position of Owerri West LGA Council in the forthcoming elections in Imo State.
Speaking at the visit, Chief Nwakali,(Egbe-Eji-Gbawuo-Ubiam I of Owerri West), commended members of OJA for their unity, love, and passion to protect the people of Owerri West with their various media organizations, even as he encouraged them not to relent in their vision of making Owerri West proud.
“We are one people in Owerri West but different fields of endeavors. In the politics of Owerri West, I am very interesting to offer quality leadership, if elected as the Executive Chairman of Owerri West Council. I am very familiar with all the major problems of Owerri West. As a grassroots young politician, I am going to make the people of Owerri West smile for good”, he submitted.
The young Chief Allwell, while speaking, decried height of political marginalization of his community, Eziobodo in Ochie Bloc from the three blocs in Owerri West namely: Umunwaoha bloc, Arah bloc, and Ochie bloc.
He recalled that Arah bloc has presently gotten, Hon. Barr. Uche Onyeaguocha,(now the State Secretary to the Government of Imo State), and the current Imo State House of Assemblymember representing Owerri West, Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi aka Dele, whereas Umunwaoha bloc has gotten the House of Representative member for Owerri Federal Constituency, Hon.Engr.Ikenna Elezieanya, and so many elective and appointed positions that have eluded the people of Eziobodo people in Owerri West system of politics.
Chief Nwakali, therefore expressed worry over what he described as lack of equity, fairness and justice in the political office sharing Owerri West, even as he called on the leaders and the people of Owerri West to rethink on the need urgently to consider someone from Eziobodo in Ochie bloc to produce the next Executive Chairman of Owerri West LGA in the forthcoming LG elections.
” Eziobodo people are like strangers in Owerri West, but now is the turn, time of Eziobodo to govern. After due consultation, we have agreed to allow equity and justice to reign supreme in the politics of Owerri West.”
Chief Nwakali, however, re-indicated his political aspiration to rule Owerri West, even as he promised to offer quality leadership and vowed to run an all-inclusive government if elected as Council Chairman.
He said, “I intended offering quality leadership. With the relationship with the Imo State Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, his Rebuild Mission led administration, Owerri West would be compared with the high-level generation of Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, economic boom, rapid rural development, employment, and empowerment.
Nwakali, furthermore, promised to end marginalization in Owerri West, even as he noted that he would represent the people of LG with a positive difference.
” I am very much accessible. I am a very simple man by nature, very God-fearing.I believe in the service to divinity and humanity. Eziobodo Community has never tested any political position in the LGA governance whether by election nor by appointment”, he lamented.
“I have 100% support and backup from my immediate family members and my entire community, Eziobodo. I can make a positive difference if given a chance”, he noted.
Chief Allwell, while speaking, advised all those contesting for the same position in Owerri West to shun playing politics of hate speeches, bitterness and embrace one another with politics of fairness.
As OJA paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Chief Allwell Nwakali, of Eziobodo Autonomous Community in Owerri West, he officially declared his political aspiration to lead Owerri West as the Executive Chairman of Owerri West LGA Council, in the forthcoming elections in Imo State.
Meanwhile, OJA Patron, Chief Sir. Fidel Onyeneke, in his vote of thanks, encouraged Chief Allwell for making a very bold step towards his chairmanship ambition but called on OJA members to be professionals in the course of duty.
He appealed to the association members to also dwell on objectivity in their reportages and not to be biased.
The former Imo NUJ State Chairman, Sir. Anneke, who hails from Avu in Arah bloc of Owerri West, supported the political needs to follow equity, fairness, and justice.
