Over Hundred PDP Members Defects To APC In Gombe By Kakshingi H Jedidah
Leadership of the All Progressive Congress APC in Gombe has yesterday received over hundred members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP who defected into the APC following the party’s victory at the just concluded presidential poll.
The Majority leader in the Gombe State House of Assembly, Honourable Mamman Alkali was among hundreds of decampees who defected from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) leading the decampees which included over fifty Personal Assistants and Special Assistants to Governor Dankwambo and many others.
One of the defectors, Alhaji Ibrahim Zamfara, a member of the PDP Elders Committee in the State said their decision to dump the PDP for the APC was because they felt Gombe should not be an opposition party to the Federal Government following the victory of General Buhari at Presidential election.
He said they have decided to embrace change because of the discriminatory attributes and the lack transparency in the ruling PDP in Gombe State.
He added that, they felt it will be better for them to fix their tent with the wining train so that the State could benefit and move forward.
Other notable defectors from the PDP were two serving members of the State House of Assembly and two former members.
while receiving the decampees, the APC Gubernatorial candidate in the State, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya asked the decampees to feel free and consider themselves as bonafide members of the party.
He said they are going to be treated fairly without any form of discrimination even as he said, their decision to join the APC train would further enhance the chances of winning and general acceptance of the APC ahead of the Saturday’s Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.
