Over 100 Staff Due For Retirement-Chairman Doma Local Government

Hon.Henry Omaku, The executive chairman of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa state has said over one hundred (100) workers are due for retirement, He gave the hint during a press briefing in Doma, The chairman stated that all those in the retirement list are due according to laid down civil service rules to quit the service.

Omaku appealed to all those within the range of thirty (35) years of service and those within sixty (60) years of birth to make formal request for their retirement ,Saying due consideration in times of benefit would be accorded to any civil servant within that range to avail themselves of writing a letter to that effect.

“The retirement of staff is not something i decide rather it was a directive from above”,

I’m addressing the press today because of the community we found ourselves, the chairman added.

The council chairman blame the leadership of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) for the face-off between workers and the Local Government, He chastise the union for not given vivid information to workers in the area ,The reaction may not be unconnected to lingering rumpus between the chairman and some individual over the backlog of percentage of their salaries.

Omaku identified the present bitten effect of the economic crunch as a major constraint affecting the payment of workers,He assured that the workforce been the engine room of Government businesses would enjoyed their full salary as the economy stabilized in no distance time.

Speaking over the protracted insecurity in Doma community and it’s environs, The chairman said the council procured a Sharon car for the Nigeria police, Saying the car would enhance the patrol of all areas prone to hideout of criminals.

“We expended chunk of money on the allowances of vigilante on weekly basis, On the area of health he said the council has taken a bold step in curbing the scourge of lassa fever which continued to wreak havoc in the southern senatorial zone.

He further said the Local Government has introduced monthly sanitation, He opined that the concerted approach was to enhance public health.

In the area of sports development, Hon.Omaku asserted that the council would embark on the upgrading of Doma mini stadium.
