Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that the conditions attached to resumption in office by the leadership of striking state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) was deliberately designed to create chaos, pandemonium, crisis and violence capable of rocking the subsisting peace across the state.
The party therefore put the security agencies on notice to arrest and prosecute those allegedly planning to disturb the public peace in the various council areas.
Osun NULGE under the leadership of Dr. Nathaniel Ogungbangbe in a statement on Monday, indicated the willingness of the striking members to resume from their ten months old strike action with stringent conditions.
A statement by Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, insisted that the NULGE was asking for more than it can chew, saying it was beyond their official responsibilities to dictate with whom council executives they could work.
APC wondered when the State NULGE assumed the role of the courts to interpret and choose the court judgement to obey.
“We view the conditions rolled out by Ogungbangbe for the resumption announced as contemptuous, criminal, unacceptable, annoying, illegal and beyond their roles as public servants as they are unknown to the civil service procedures”, the APC said.
The opposition party in the state appealed to parents and guardians to warn their children and wards not to be willing tools in the hands of those it called disgruntled political functionaries.
APC further added that Ogungbangbe should be held responsible should there be a breakdown of law and order “based on the partisan posture of the leadership of the Osun NULGE to cunningly smuggle in the unknown entities into the local government council areas in the state.”
