Operation Safe Haven Arrests 300 Persons For Drugs Related Offenses

The Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) saddle with the restoration of law and order in Plateau and Bauchi State, Major General Rogers Nicholas, has arrested over 300 persons for drug related offenses and 65 others for criminal activities in Plateau state and its environs.

He said since he assumed office about 6 weeks ago the men of the Task force have made several arrest.

Nicholas made this known on Thursday while speaking at a consultative Dialogue Conference on Youth, Security and Governance in Plateau state organized by Center for Youth Participation Dialogue and Advocacy Africa (CYPDA)   a Non-Governmental Organization in Jos.

Rogers also said the operators of tricycle popularly known as kekenapep constitute the bulk of the criminals in the state and with the restriction of their movement at night crime rate in the state has drastically reduced.

He also said that OPSH has also held several stakeholders meeting with communities in crisis prone areas and they are willing to live peacefully with each other.

“The issue of clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Plateau is now in the past “because areas which were seen as ‘no go areas,’ no longer exist.”.

The Commander of the Special Task Force also said security should not be left in the hands of security agents alone and everyone should be involved.

Rogers appealed to citizens of Plateau to continue to tolerate each other to consolidate on the peace currently been enjoyed in Plateau.

Also speaking at the occasion, the director of   Center for Youth Participation Dialogue and Advocacy Africa (CYPDA)  Chris Iyama said the purpose of the meeting was to draw governments attention to issues affecting Youths and to promote peace among youths in the state.
