Open Letter to His Excellency Governor M. A Abubakar Esq

0 70

By virtue of my position as an indigenous son of Bauchi state, and also, as part of my civic duty and responsibility to comment, criticize and/or observe on an issue that has positive or negative consequences to the generality of my people; I feel it deems necessary to come up with this piece, which I have the conviction that it will meet your humble perusal.

Your Excellency, it may interest you to know that, the magnanimous people of Bauchi state are complaining about the way and manner at which you are staging both your political and administrative affairs, which is really detrimental to the people of the State.

First of all, it is pertinent to note that, you are not availing yourself to the state, due to your frequent traveling abroad in the name of showcasing the potentials of the state to the international community, which unfortunately, no any meaningful development recorded yet as a result of such your incessant foreign  visitations.

Secondly, all the people that supported you during your electioneering campaigns, especially, the APC stakeholders and stalwarts; your campaign directorate; the people who supported you morally and financially; and most importantly, the people who aspired for various elective positions under the platform of APC, are yet to start enjoying the dividends of democracy.

Your failure to manage our representatives in the National Assembly — known as Abuja politicians — being the leader of APC in the State, is another clear testimony of your incapacitation and lack of leadership expertise to man the affairs of the state.

More so, your government is known for its sharp and consistent propaganda, rather than actions. Which we all believe in the quote, “action speaks louder than words”.

You succeeded in sidelining the state’s civil servants in running the affairs of your government, which, of course, the civil servants are supposed to be the engine room of any meaningful government.

Your claim to be a monopoly of knowledge, which unfortunately, turns you to be a master of none. This, no doubt, exempted you from allowing your advisers and aides to perform their duties of giving you a constructive advises.

Hypocrisy has succeeded in eating deeply into the fibers of your administration, which at the end, render you vulnerable to accepting all sorts of cheap gossips and lies from hypocrites, and acting on them without prior confirmation.

Your inability to manage your political appointees, not to talk of the entire people of Bauchi State, is another issue lingering around your own government house and of course, the entire state.

And finally, the incessant and unprecedented resignation of your political appointees, which begins with the Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Shehu Barau Ningi, and later S. A Investment and the recent one of S. A Students Affairs, which I am optimistic that others are still following suit.

This is no doubt, a bad precedence that is sending a red Alert signal to the world. And it is imperative to remind you that, this was the same way the previous government of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan started losing grip of reality and ended up losing the 2015 general election to APC, with a wider margin.

Therefore, taking into cognizance these aforementioned leadership lacunas you are faced with, it is pertinent to unambiguously and unequivocally advice the governor to, as a matter of necessity, find a lasting way of ameliorating these challenges, for the best interest of the state.

Thank you.

Shehu Hassan Jarawa
