One Killed, 717 Cattle rustled in Plateau By Yakubu Wuyep, Jos

Plateau State Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN ) yesterday confirmed  the loss of 717 cattle and the death of a 12 year old boy  between Kanke and Langtang north local government area of Plateau State .

State MACBAN Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Boro Hussaini who spoke to newsmen in Jos said 708 cattle were rustled into Langtang north and are yet to be recovered while nine cattle and a 12 year old by the name Saminu Ahmadu were shot dead.


Alhaji Hussaini explained that the herdsmen were migrating in groups from Bauchi to Nasarawa state when they were attacked, adding that “they were following the grazing route between Kanke to Langtang north, the other herders were able to escape when they heard the gunshots but Saminu was killed and his corpse has been recovered by the police.”

“Imagine what it means to lose over 700 cattle, don’t Fulani people have right to live or move through Plateau State? We are calling on the community leaders in Langtang North to ensure that those cattle are immediately recovered,” he said.

The STF Media and Information Officer, Captain Ikedichi Iweha said the STF has no such report, but that the sector command in charge of the area will launch an investigation on the incident. Police Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Abu asked for time to confirm the incident from the DPO in charge of the area but at the time of filing this report, his phone number was unavailable.
