The National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State Council, under the mandate of the State Chairman, Hon.Comr. Sam Udeh, (Ezeumuokorobia) in affiliation with the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, in Owerri, on Tuesday, Nov.16th, 2021, officially inaugurated the Committee Members on Imo City Transport, ICT, Branch of the Union.
The successful inauguration ceremonial exercise of Imo City Transport, ICT, held at the Imo NURTW State Secretariat in Owerri confirmed Engr. Onyedikachi Nwosu, who is popularly known as Shinkachy as the ICT Committee Chairman.
Others who emerged as members of ICT Committee include: “Sir.Tochukwu Nneji (Egbe) representing Owerri Zone, Senior Comr.Linus Duru, representing Okigwe Zone, Mr.Chidiebere Umunnakwe (Member-PRO), Mr.Uche E.Ngwadom, (Member) Rev.Ginikachukwu Amadi, (Member), Mr.Anaelechi Ukanwunne,aka Obowo (Member), Mr.Osinachi Nnataraonye, (Member), and Elder Mattias Onwuegbu, (Member) as Patron.
Addressing the newly sworn-in ICT Committee leadership at their inauguration ceremony, the Imo NURTW State Chairman, Hon.Comr.Samuel Udeh,(Ezeumuokorobia), expressed satisfaction with the heights of the caliber of persons who emerged as the ICT Committee members.
Hon.Udeh, therefore described their daily services as group of persons convened for the accomplishment of some specific purposes, typically with formal protocols to ensure sanity amongst roads users and to maintain orderliness in the transportation system of Imo State as it concerns the operation of shuttles buses and taxes.
Hon.Udeh, who made their inauguration a huge success, encouraged them to always discharge their duties with diligence, respect to the rule of law, and endeavor to apply human face.
“The appointment was in view of your sterling disposition, doggedness, and experiences rendered in the transportation businesses in the state. You are hereby charged with the responsibility of piloting the affairs of ICT Branch of Imo NURTW”, Ezeumuokorobia submitted.
Udeh, moreso, disclosed that their appointment letter which was given to them is also tantamount to be relinquished if found or caught in any unlawful and unwanted activities that may defame the image of the Shared Prosperity Government of Governor Hope Uzodinma.
In his acceptance speech, the ICT Committee Chairman, Comr.Engr.Onyedichi Nwosu, aka Shinkachy, expressed satisfaction and delight to be given the offer to serve.
He stated that he must surely deliver, added that to whom much is given, much is expected.
The newly confirmed Chairman of ICT, Shinkachy, assured quality service and effective delivery, even as he promised to carry every member of the union along.
Shinkachy in his speech, vowed never to disappoint the union and the Shared Prosperity Government.
“Now, I have given the power to head ICT as Committee Chairman, I must deliver. I am very optimistic that I can deliver. I have the capacity and with my team, we will achieve tremendous success”, Shinkachy assured.
Highlights of the ICT inauguration ceremony were the official handover of their individual letter of appointments, and a swift movement to the office of the Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma, on Transport, Hon. Chief Kenneth Okafor, who in his own words, congratulated them and encouraged them to be up and doing by making sure they deliver on their mandates.
The Special Adviser on Transport, Hon. Okafor, however, warned against the encroachment of duties.
Meanwhile, the Imo NURTW State Chairman, Hon. Udeh has made it crystal clear that the union under his watch is set to hold the union election in the next 6 (six) months, but enjoined with an expression of interests as aspirants for any elective positions to begin campaigns from the grassroots.
