The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have said it has discovered a dead baby inside a pit latrine in Hadejia, Jigawa.
In a statement by the Corps, it said; “The attention of personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Hadejia Local Government Area, of Jigawa State was drawn by one Umar Muhd 47 years of Kwarin Manu Quarters in Hadejia Municipal that he has sighted something inside his toilet (pit latrine) and the smell was strange and overwhelming.
“Without hesitation, the NSCDC personnel rushed to the scene, and a dead body of a Baby was discovered tied in a pillowcase inside the pit latrine and taken to the General hospital Hadejia where it was confirmed dead.
The Corps said; “Muhd is currently in NSCDC custody for detailed interrogation. Meanwhile, the decomposing body of the baby was handed over to the Ward Head of Kwarin Manu Malam Musa Umar and the staff of the Social Welfare office in the local government, and the LGA representatives for proper burial of the dead baby.
The public relations office SP Adamu Shehu has confirmed the story, adding that the state commandant Mustapha Talba (CC) has ordered an in-depth investigation to fish out those behind the wicked act.
He assured after the investigation whosoever found guilty will face court action to serve as a deterrent to others
