Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran actor Ernest Asuzu.
Asuzu who grew into fame as with his several bad boy characters died on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
Before his death, the actor battled stroke amidst personal problems that kept him out of the limelight.
Originally from Imo state, Asuzu grew up in Lagos state where he had his primary and secondary school education.
Asuzu rose to the limelight in the 1990s after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster ‘Another Campus Queen.’
He went to star alongside some of Nollywood’s greats like Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Emeka Ike, and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.
He reportedly starred in over 150 movies during his career in Nollywood.
Just like a number of movie stars, Asuzu also had a stint in the music industry.
His stage name was El Cream.
At the peak of his career, the movie star dated colleague, Obot Etuk.
By 2015, there were reports that the movie star had suffered a stroke which took a toll on him financially and mentally.
In 2020, a video of the actor surfaced online where he was spotted appealing for financial aid.
The actor tried to bounce back on several occasions but the state of his health overshadowed the once bubbling and Nollywood bad boy.
