The Director General National Orientation Agency, NOA , Dr Garba Abari has revealed that the current insecurity challenges facing Nigeria are direct result of dysfunctional values and attitudes behavior of our family .
He disclosed that lack of love, kindness ,honesty ,integrity, accommodation, generosity ,team spirit ,community spirit, perseverance ,hard work ,love of country ,respect for elders ,and constituted authority ,respect for the sanctity of human life other are responsible for the moral decay in our society.
Abari made this known to our correspondent at a one Day value reorganization and security awareness programme for schools in Plateau state with NAPS, NCSDC at Educare Academy off- Miango Junction.
He said these are the bedrock of our social values that abhor ethnical egotism and all forms of social vices we experience today.
Dr Abari lamented that with the increasing globalization world; exotic values have been popularized and promoted above our traditional values.
According to him, the family institution has collapsed where the children are like sheep without a shepherd; community spirit has given way to individualism.
He decried the erosion of African values and the sanctity of the human life which has been consigned to the dustbin.
Dr Abari cautioned parents that Nigeria’s national values must be entrenched at every stage of the education system through civic moral and religious instructions.
He condemned the current practice of conferring chieftaincy titles honorary degrees on wealthy members of the society irrespective of their sources of wealth.
