The Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa has debunked the insinuation that there is a plan by the National Assembly to impeach President Muhamadu Buhari.
Hon Ado Doguwa who stated this in an interview with Journalists in Bauchi at the weekend described such matter as a street speculation which should not be taken serious.
He said “as a principal officer of the House of Representatives, we don’t have such considerations before us.
“This matter has never been contemplated on the floor of the House. The House has never at any point in time taught of it or deliberated on it.
“As far as the House and the leadership of the House is concern, we have no cause whatsoever to contemplate the impeachment of the president; after all we don’t have any impeachable offense at hand to which to even take any action against him.
“So the speculation is unfolded, it has not come to my notice officially or otherwise from any principal officer or any member so it is a mere speculation on the street and should be left at that level,” he said.
Doguwa had lashed the PDP responsible for the current Nigeria’s economic describing the development as unfortunate having plundered the nation into chaos.
“Let me tell you that PDP brought Nigeria to its knees even though President Buhari is taking bold steps to restore the economy.
According to the Chief Whip, the current fight against corruption is not selective as asserted by the opposition party, but is collectively and involving even APC supporters.
He therefore admonished Nigerians not to panic as President Buhari is ready to bring positive changes in line with its campaign promise.
