The State Government’s partnership with the Mission in the Education Sector has been described as a viable model for revolutionizing education that is eliciting both national and international acclaim .

The Catholic Bishop of Kano Diocese, Most Rev John Niyiring made the commendation during a holy mass at Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha to mark the year’s Priestly Ordination of the Catholic ArchDiocese of Onitsha.

Bishop Niyiring admitted that what Anambra State has done in returning schools to their original owners and sustaining the support to the Church in upgrading them, had not only improved the face of infrastructure in the schools but also ensured that the students are imbued with sound morals and the right attitude for self sustainability.

According to him, Anambra is now the first in many areas and will sustain the feat in future because of the solid foundation the government has consciously laid for the youths through its investments in the Education sector.

He called on other governments across the Country to emulate the Anambra example which according to him, has proved to be practical and result-oriented.

In his ordination homily, the Auxilliary Catholic Bishop of Onitsha, Most Rev Dennis Isizoh said the call to serve God is a divine one that requires humility and faith, urging the newly ordained priests to make the bible their watchword and avoid being swayed by their new attainment.

In his remarks, Gov Willie Obiano described the ordination as consistent with God’s charge on Christians to advance His kingdom.

Describing the Catholic Faith as one that is deeply rooted in pure christian doctrines, Gov Obiano urged the Priests to be true ambassadors of Christ not only by preaching the Word but most importantly through wholesome living.

The Governor promised that under his watch, the partnership with the Church will be sustained despite the harsh economic times, so as to ensure that the State retains its pole position in education.
