No Going Back On Cattle Ranches In Nasarawa Governor Al-Makura Tells Nasarawa PDP Chairman

Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura says the resuscitation of the seven existing gazetted grazing reserve has come to stay.

The Chief executive stated this during the 2018 Tree Planting Campaign held at the Lafia City Hall, he, in addition, says the decision of the State government under his watch was to quell the lingering Farmers /herders clash in the State.

He, however, said the holistic steps would end unabated cacophony leading to the wanton destruction of lives and properties.

“The resuscitation of the 7 gazetted game reserves is to serve as Cattle ranches”

“Ranches are situated in Awe, Doma, Keana, Obi, Assakio and amongst other communities”.

He warned rumor peddlers and politicians to politicize the process meant to ensure an eternal peace in the State.

Al-Makura also lashed the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Francis Orogu as an enemy of peacebuilding.

The governor says no amount of criticisms would make him rescind his decision which was for the benefit of the masses; he said the State government would not take it likely with people casting aspersions on the ongoing ranching system of the Federal government.

“My reason to approve the establishment of ranches was the right thing at the right direction.

Adding further that the State government is not establishing new game reserves out of the gazetted ones.

‘Is not true that the citing of Cattle ranches in mostly dominated in Alago is aimed at humiliating Alago nation “he said.

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura said the State government in its determination to nip the crisis by the bud has domesticated the Community Based and Conflict Resolution Mechanism to forestall everlasting peace in the crisis probe areas

“With the domestication of CBCRM, we succeeded in balancing the equilibrium”.
