The Plateau State Chairman of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Comrade Tokji Mandim has threatened to slam suit challenging the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) for fixing a dateline for payment of nomination of interest form within 24 hours to disenfranchise the poor vulnerable Nigerian contesting the seat of Chairmanship and Councillorship.
Mandim disclosed this during a press conference in Jos.
He said,” We must have to express our feelings to the people of Plateau State for them to know what is going on because elections are coming around the corner now scheduled on October 9th.
“I draw the attention of the state government most especially on what is going in PLASIEC that they have to look at it where would a common man that is contesting for Councillorship get his money to pay #600,000.00 just a day, how? Let the PLASIEC look at it, although I am not appealing to them but they should look at it and do the needful generally,” he said.
According to Mandim, if they’re doing something like this next time they should imbibe human face, it might happen that way because they have the state government at the central level then what about my party NNPP where will they get the money and are we going to task everybody and again look at the level of hardship people are passing through.
He stated that if it is a democracy, democracy is all about fairness, and we need to be fair to be frank, we raised alarm his aspirants can’t afford to pay as PLASIEC hiked the payment.
Tokji Mandim explained further that political parties would be disenfranchised because they are having challenging to meet up the dateline.
According to him, we cannot predict the action of PDP as they are planning to rig the forthcoming LGs elections because they’re used to it.
