NGO, CSOs Seeks NEMA, SEMA To Provide Intervention To Victims Plateau Crisis

Thirty seven coalition of Non-Governmental and Civil Society Organizations ,NGO,CSOs in Plateau state have appealed to National Emergency Management Agency and State Emergency Management Agency to immediately intervene on the plight of all the affected persons and communities as well as conduct trauma and healing counseling to reintegrate victims back into the society.

In their collective press statement made available by the Country representative of Apurimac Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Okoko in Jos.

The statement called on traditional and religious institutions to wake up to their customary duties of strengthening cultural and religious values while urging the youth to take advantage of their productive ages to promote peaceful coexistence.

“We commend also the efforts of the government at all levels ,security CSO ,NGO ,media practitioners as well-meaning Nigerian who were at hand to rescue victims and provide relief to those affected ,we also commend medical personnel for prompt attending to victims of the violent act”, statement.

We urge the state government and security agencies to be proactive in increasing and improving security to flash point areas as well as safeguarding lives in the affected persons and communities.

The CSO while reiterating full support to the government and well-meaning Nigerian to ensure peace is permanently restored want the security agencies to carry out their constitutional mandate without fear or favour through intelligent gathering and the use of early warning platforms.

They condemned the criminality that may not be ruled out in the reoccurring violence, we ask that all displaced persons and group are returned in safety after rehabilitation and rebuilding of destroyed homes.

We condemn in strong terns the action of perpetrators and sponsored insensitive to the sacredness of life and genuine calls to adhere to the rule of law that has been the thrust of the present administration in the state.

To ensure that sanity prevails and stop put to the killing of innocent citizens we insists and hold government at all levels accountable if they failed to arrest and prosecute all those involved in perpetrating these evil acts so that justice can prevail.
