A known governmental organization under the aegis of Compass National Secretary, chief Nanyah Daman has commended the leadership style of the former governor  H.E Alh. (Dr.) Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa (The Garkuwan Sokoto) and former Executive Governor of Sokoto state.  desirous of implementing and institutionalizing good governance and  promoting economic prosperity of  Nigeria  through research  on how other countries overcame their challenges and suggest same to our political leaders.

We came together, brainstormed an estate of the realm, gentlemen of the press and all those present at this epoch-making ceremony.

The Compass is a forum of like minds in Nigeria, desirous of implementing and institutionalizing good governance and therefore promotes economic prosperity in Nigeria for Nigerians through researching on how other countries overcame their challenges and suggest same to our political leaders. We came together, brainstormed and came up with the idea of the need for inclusive governance which would mitigate political tension and mutual suspicion which are inimical to societal progress; that would eventually promote national unity, cohesiveness in order tackle the teething problems of contemporary Nigeria.

We then stumbled at the open letter of H.E Alh. (Dr.) Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa (The Garkuwan Sokoto) and former Executive Governor of Sokoto State to H.E President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), President and Commander- In- Chief of The Nigeria Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria that met our hopes, aspirations, vision and philosophy.

The Compass is in total support of the open letter dated 19th September, 2016 in several international, national and local media, namely; The Nation of Monday, September 26, 2016 on page 34, The Sun of Sunday, September 25, 2016, The Guardian of Sunday September 25, 2016 Page 84,

The NewsGate International Magazine of October 2016 on page 14 and The NewsCrest Newspaper on page 8 of October, 2016 where he urged the Federal Government to consider inclusive governance which often promotes National unity, and eventual economic prosperity. He cited the era of H.E. Alh. Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari (GCFR), former President, Federal Republic of Nigeria whom in 1979 entered into alliance between his party, the NPN and the NPP where the latter was allowed to produce the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Chief Edwin Umeh Ezeoke while in 1983, a similar alliance with NPP produced Sen. John Wash Pam as the Deputy Senate President. Furthermore, during the era of H.E. President Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR), similar alliances were entered between the PDP and the opposition parties where ministers, Special Advisers, Board Appointments etc were included in the Unity Government while establishing a strong working relationship with all State Governors irrespective of party affiliations.

This led to the monthly publication of Federal Allocation from Federal, State and Local Governments which was an idea muted by H.E. Alh.( Dr.) Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa of the then ANPP which is still in use, among other suggestions by eminent Nigerians. Similarly, the then administration of H.E. Alh. Umaru Musa Yar’Adua (GCFR) and H.E. Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) employed same which we speculate may be responsible for the relative economic stability in those eras.

For Bafarawa to place advertorial in international, national and local publications to get Mr. President’s attention is an indication of his personality as a patriotic Nigerian par excellence and a hero of democracy and the masses. His efforts need applause and commendations especially in a situation where most leaders are mute even when the nation is in recession. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King (Jr) ”

…in the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends…”

Nigeria is in dire need of such politicians like H.E. Alh (Dr.) Attahiru Bafarawa being a true grassroots politician, an honest, transparent and god-fearing politician, a politician with a pedigree, a politician that lives with and knows the daily needs of his people, a politician who wants the genuine unity and development of Nigeria, a bold, courageous and a go-getter, a detribalized gentleman and a humble & pleasant personality that is highly revered within and outside Nigeria at such trying times of the nation as this to contribute their quota to nation building.

The Compass is deeply concerned on why Nigeria is yet to occupy her rightful place in the comity of Nations. In that regard, she intends to organize workshops, conferences, seminars and symposia to discuss how countries like Brazil, India, Singapore, Honkong, Dubai (UAE) and a host of others were able to move from grass to grace. Experts will be invited across the globe to present their perspectives and ways for rapid socio-economic development of our nation. World leaders will also be invited to give key note addresses.

The Compass has an organizational structure with the Board of Trustees (BoT), the National Working Committee (NWC), National Officers’ Committee (NOC), National
