Nasarawa @20:Governor Al-Makura Hails Founding Fathers

Nasarawa state governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has commended the founding fathers of Nigeria and Nasarawa state; the governor stated this during a media chat held at the government House, Lafia.

Al-Makura said the founding fathers of Nasarawa state deserved a laudable commendation for laying a solid foundation of the state as he further affirmed that he did not met a failed state.

Urging Nigerians and the people of Nasarawa state to emulate them by embracing peace, unity at all times irrespective of ethnic, religion and political affiliation. While fielding questions over his 2019 ambition to vie for Nasarawa north senatorial seat.

Al-Makura fielded that he did not have the ambition to contest for the position of Nasarawa South Senatorial district in 2019 after the expiration of his tenure as the governor of the state.

Saying he prefer to remain a statesman and be a father after his  exit from the Shendam road government House as the governor of the state rather than contesting for sensational seat in 2019.

“Contesting for senatorial seat is not in my dream as some people are insinuating and already calling me Senator. These are mere speculations, “I want to see myself as a leader and father of the state after my exist as the governor of the Nasarawa state in 2019,”he said.

Al-Makura also said that naturally, Nasarawa North senatorial district area of the state should produce the next governor of the state in 2019 based on understanding, but that he don’t have the power to choose who will rule the people of the state.

“If the time comes the people of Nasarawa state would decide who will succeed me in 2019, to decide where the governorship seat of the state will fall in 2019 but we are all aware that Nasarawa West governed the state for eight years and Nasarawa South also.

“We are in democracy, the people of the state have their right to choose who will govern them and from where the governorship seat of the state will fall in 2019,” Said governor Al-Makura.

Al-Makura also said that despite the security challenges facing the state, the state have achieved alots especially in the area of people oriented projects in the last five years.
