The Urhobo Youth Leaders Council (UYLC) led by Comrade Lucky Emonefe on Tuesday dragged the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio to court over the appointment of a sole administrator for NDDC.

Lucky Emonefe in a suit filed at the federal high court in Warri, the Delta state approached the court through his counsel to challenge the appointment of a sole administrator owning to noncompliance to the laydown procedure   under the suit no: FHC/WR/CS/2/2021

He said as a group we know as a matter of fact that the appointment of the sole administrator is illegal, null, and void and a breach of the act establishing the NDDC.

We are asking the court for a restraining order against the federal government, the attorney general of the federation, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, and the sole administrator

The Urhobo youths drawn from all the clans of the Urhobo Nation have frowned at the politics within the NDDC board and in the presidency to the detriment of the people of the Niger Delta and the Urhobos’ in particular.

He further expressed the body’s displeasure over the recent appointment of a Sole Administration to manage the affairs of the Commission which is an aberration and deviating from the aims for which the commission was established.

Furthermore, they advised, “Mr. President to hearken to the demands of the region’s stakeholders and Governors of the South-South by putting in place a substantive NDDC board and not a sole administrator for NDDC.” Saying Niger Delta is too sensitive a region to gamble with.
