The happening in the ward congresses of the People’s Democratic Party in Nasarawa State is the continuation of the draconian leader style of Francis Orogu whom some party members said is out to kill and bury the party, A Chairmanship aspirant of the party, Jibrin Sabo Keana and Hon.Sidi Bako in an interview with selected Journalists said the non availability of electoral material, officials from the national secretariat and the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct the ward congresses as an act of brutality to distablise the solid foundation of the party.
Sabo Keana confided that they would not accept anything short of that as no ward congress hold on Saturday,as at 5:47pm on Saturday all the offices of the State exco are under lock and key except the Pubilicity Secretary Umar Bwalla who was busy in his office.
Hon.Francis Orogu, according to JSK sold the party victory in 2019 general election to the ruling All Progressives Congress,it was reliably gathered that Orogu was defeated at his electoral ward by the ruling All Progressives Congress as the PDP lost the seat of House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senator to the APC, He further revealed that the party Chairman has no electoral value with the quantum of defeats recorded in 2019 election, saying there is the need for retrospection of the party by serious minded politicians but not people with selfish interest.
On assumption of office, Orogu began by suspending his co-contestant , the former Director General Campaign of Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, Muhammed Sarki Tanko, the Danmajen Azara and Hon.Jacob Ogiri AKA Maimashi over an alleged anti party activities.but competent source maintained that majority of PDP supporters attended the secret party talk held in an undisclosed venue at Keffi but they go Scot free.
It could be recalled that the incumbent Chairman whose first tenure is about elapsing is running helter skelter and romancing with stakeholders from the national Secretariat to remain as the Chairman with no visible achievements if not fighting the founders of the party, a party chieftain from Nasarawa North senatorial district who pleaded anonymity attributed the emergence of Orogu as a gang up against the rightful persons and the likes of Bar.Hassan Yakubu and Danmajen Azara.
Pundit from the party secretariat blamed former lawmakers of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly from the PDP fold for fronting the candidature of Francis Orogu whom he said lacks the leadership quality to lead the party to victory in any other election as he further recalled the party Chairman was handpicked by the six PDP lawmakers as of then.
The former Assembly members that brought Orogu to power are Hon.Muhammed Agah Muluku representing Nasarawa Eggon East, Hon.Muhammed Alkali representing Lafia East, Hon.Muhammed Okpede representing Doma, the immediate past Speaker Hon.Ahmed Musa representing Nasarawa Central, Hon.Peter Mbucho, from the list above only Hon.Okpede, former member representing Doma North was still in PDP.Though the party would always remember them for compelling on the supporters of the sinking party a Medusa, according to one of the party official from Keana.
The worst of the draconian leadership style of Orogu according to feelers said the major breakthrough of Hon.Francis Orogu was the suspension of some selected delegates from Awe, Keana and Doma Local Government, few weeks to the primaries of the party, the affected delegates it was confided from Ekye ,it was learnt were not submissive to him and the former Assembly member representing Doma South,Hon.Anthony Obande,the decision compelled some of the aggrieved party delegates to jumped ship,the swapping of delegates also include ex Chairman of Keana.
A staunch member of the People’s Democratic Party from 1999 to date faulted the party chairman of using vested interest to run the Party.stating that a fresh hand can do the best job by injecting new idea to the party at the threshold of death, other complaints raised was that the Party Chairman is in the habit of sending text messages informing a party member of his suspension instead of typed, written and documented with letter head paper which they said is not a proper way of suspending or communicating with members.
Our reporter reliably gathered that Hon.Orogu during one of the meeting held in an undisclosed location issued a stiff warning to party officials not to attend a meeting called upon by some aspirants seeking for elective positions under the auspice of the PDP, describing the decision as a unilateral decision.
Other sins of the second term seeking Chairman compelled personalities like Yusuf Agabi,the party Governorship candidate in 2011 election to dumped the party following the zoning of Governorship ticket to Nasarawa North, Orogu , it could be recalled was the first person to protest at the party secretariat following the decision of the party to zoned the Party Chairmanship race to Obi Local Government, The current Chairman resisted the move to deprived him of his right to contest, revolting the decision but was allowed to contest as an indigent of Keana and won with a landslide victory and today is presenting his stooges as Party officials from ward, Local Government and State level.
The ruling APC in different fora acussed the PDP Chairman, Hon.Francis Orogu of nursing a tribal, religious and sectional agenda which was seen as a way of killing the party in the State.the outcome of 2019 election in Nasarawa State is a bad outing for PDP following the inability of the party to win the presidential election, pundits alleged that Hon.Orogu, it was alledged diverted money that was meant to mobilize party agents were diverted into the pocket of individual including the party Chairman and the party woman leader, Madam Stella for diverting N2m. .
Party members also acussed the Chairman for his one sided decision for opposing the candidature of the former member House of Representatives representing Awe,Doma,Keana,Hon.Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo to contest for senate seat representing Southern Nasarawa also contributed to the defeat of the PDP, the internal braw in the PDP, is no longer news gave the APC the leverage to takes over the two exalted seats of Senator and House of Representatives in Southern Nasarawa.
It was learnt that under Orogu,supportive staff in both the State Secretariat and Zonal office were owned over six months salary,this was brought to an end following the intervention of Hon.Ogoshi Onawo to settled the bills in one of his visit to the party office some years back,
It was gathered that the decision to zone Governorship ticket to Nasarawa North foist personalities like Hon.Ahmed Aliyu Wadada to dumped the PDP to a Party led by a well organized Chairman
Another sin of Orogu was his inability to woo the former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku back to his former party which is a minus to the People’s Democratic Party considering the personality of Maku politically.
A party heavyweight who pleaded anonymity expressed discontentment and make observation during the visit of PDP Presidential candidate,Atiku Abubakar instead of going to the party office he was directed to the Chairman’s castle where he was treated as a friend not party Chairman
An executive of the party during an interview at the party secretariat in Lafia acussed Francis Orogu of running the party as his personal property,he said Orogu flouted the zoning of the Chairmanship seat to Obi which would be a hitch-free contest between Musa Danjuma (Garkuwan Dadarre) and the legal Adviser of the party,Hassan Yakubu but Orogu with an overwhelming support of former and incumbent State lawmakers emerged as the party Chairman is the same person calling for zoning of Governorship ticket to Nasarawa North.
Akurbe,a member of the party during an interview said Hon.Francis Orogu is never an alternative to the success of PDP in 2023 General election,saying the party would die before 2023 under the leadership of Orogu.
According to Alhaji Audu,”if Orogu called you on phone twice and you didn’t pick he will send you a text message suspending you from the party,Are we in Uganda,he asked.

It was reliably gathered that a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (PDP) representing Doma South constituency,Hon.John Osewu may any moment from now bid the party that brought him to power bye bye as no concrete reason was attached to his move to dumped the Party, a loyalist to Hon.Muhammed Ogoshi Onawo said critical stakeholders from the fold of the Party had a marathon meeting at the former Member, House of Representatives’s abode at VIP Guest House along Shendam road, Lafia.
Hon Onawo including ex lawmaker representing Doma South, Anthony Obande, John Osewu, the former House of Assembly , with the ward congresses not held in Nasarawa State, this a yardstick for Osewu to bid welfare to the Party that brought him to power.
What transpired during the Peoples’ Democratic Party ward congresses in Nasarawa State is a clear indication that Francis Orogu is an agent of division as he differentiate between free, fair and credible election, The State Chairman of the PDP is a great divider, according to a faithful fan of Orogu.
