Nasarawa State Govt Outlaws The Erection Of Illegal Speed Bumps-Works Commissioner

The government of Nasarawa State has read riot act to communities in the habit of erecting illegal speed bumps to seek clearance from the ministry of Works and Transport or risk the wrath of the law.

The Commissioner Ministry for Works and Transport, Engr. Mohammed Yahaya Wada has disclosed,he said the ministry would partner security agencies including the Federal Road Safety Commission to ensure compliance.

Engr. Wada says the state government would provide an alternative to speed bumps through the use of road signs and zebra crossing.

“The signs would be either school, hospital, market, adding that the decision to get ride of speed bumps was reached during meeting with Commissioners of Works”.

“There was a communique that all illegal speed bumps and other setbacks should be remove on Federal highway”

When asked on how many speed bumps were approved by the ministry, Engr. Yahaya Wada opined that no single approval was given,he further added that majority of the bumps did not meet up to the specification due to the use of wrong material.

While commenting on BAD-Command Science Secondary School road promised by the State governor during the official handing over of Command school some months ago the road is still in it deplorable condition.

The Commissioner maintained that paucity of funds delay the construction work of the busy Kafin Wambai-BAD road.

“I assured you as the situation improve that will be put into good shape “.he stated.
