Nasarawa State Government Sealed 16 Private Schools For Lack Of Manpower, Structures

Al-Makura-E2-80-99sNasarawa state Government has outlawed sixteen (16) commercial schools operating in state without prerequisite requirements.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Sani Umar gave the indication in an exclusive interview with Journalists at the State Ministry of Education, Lafia.

Umar asserted that the sanctioned imposed on proprietors of private schools was to complement the effort of the state Government to sanitized the sector, adding that some private schools lacks the prerequisite requirements to qualify them as full-fletched centre of learning.

He said the bold step taken was to combat the establishment of commercial schools by less serious people in the state, he further opined that Government would not relent on her effort to get rid of private school proprietors that are only concerned about profit making but not thinking about the education of the populace.

speaking on the new policy of free secondary and primary education of the present All Progressives Congress under Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and the gory situation occasioned by extortion of school fees and unapproved PTA, the Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Education, Sani Umar warned principals of secondary schools and Head teachers of primary schools to obey constituted authority or faced the wrath of the law.

“Any principal or head teacher found wanting would face the consequences of their misdeed, we are aware of extortion exhibited by some principals”, Adding that he received a lot of calls and text messages from either parents or guardians.

“Some principals in respect to this had been punished while others had been redeployed to Area Inspectorate Offices”, said the permanent secretary. Commenting on the exclusion of students from writing the free NECO examination, He faulted principals for causing untold hardship to students and parents, He maintained that principals flouted the directive by registering external students instead the mainstream students.

Further investigation revealed that the State Ministry of Education was behind the existence of illegal private schools in the state.

An insider from the state ministry of Education, Science And Technology blamed top echelon for granting private school proprietors with uncertified licence to operate without inspecting the school structures or teachers, It is authoritatively gathered  that Nasarawa south has the highest number of commercial schools lacking all basic requirement.

Some of the schools inspected didn’t not only lack classroom but lack windows, doors, floors and ceiling while other schools operate under uncompleted buildings.
