Nasarawa South Senate elect, Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo has condoled members of the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa State Council over the demise of Mother of the Chairman, Isaac Okpoju.
Onawo disclosed this during a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his landslide victory on the 25th February 2023 general election.
The former Speaker prayed for God to grant her eternal life, saying death is inevitable he however urged the family to take solace.
The former House of Representatives member thanked the people of Awe, Doma, Keana, Lafia and Obi for voting him as senator representing Nasarawa South senatorial zone for the show of love.
He further dedicated his victory to the people of Nasarawa South senatorial zone, pleading with his constituents to remain calm and resolute at all times, especially at this time of election.
Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo appealed to Journalists in the State to abide by the ethics of the Journalism profession.
He challenged members of the fourth estate of the realm to be up and doing come rain come sunshine.
Chief Wilson Bako , the immediate past National Vice President Zone D, of the Nigeria Union of Journalists appreciated the senator-elect for being open to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo however dedicated his victory to God and the people of his senatorial district, Nasarawa South.
According to the Senator-elect, his victory was by the grace of God and the reward by his people on the quality representation he offered to them in the last 16 years.
“I have served my people for eight years in the House of Assembly and eight years in the House of Representatives and if I did not do well they would not have voted for me again.
“I have impacted the lives of my people in the areas of education, health, youths and women empowerment, provision of boreholes, and facilitated empowerment for many qualified youths with federal and state governments.
“So, I thank God for giving me another opportunity and I promised not to disappoint him and my people” Onawo added.
The Senator-elect also promised to partner with journalists in the state for the overall development of the state and the country.
He reiterated that the press should report his activities objectively and professionally.
Onawo also promised to sponsor quality bills that would help the incoming administration address security and economic challenges confronting the country.
He also promised to lobby and attract more federal government presence to Nasarawa State.
Earlier, Hajiya Amina Mohammed of Voice of Nigeria and Vice Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel congratulated the Senator-elect on his victory and promised to give him adequate coverage.
