Nasarawa Revenue Board: Governor Sule Abolished Manual Receipts, Embrace Central Billing System To Enhance IGR

The Chairman Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue, Ahmed Yakubu says the abolition of manual receipts by the State Board of Internal Revenue and the introduction of the Central Billing System by Governor Abdullahi Sule would end the proliferation of fake receipts in the State.

 

The Chairman disclosed this during a media chat at the Revenue House with selected Journalists, He said the abolition of manual receipts by the board contributes to the meager tax generated by the State due to interference.

 

Adding that the introduction of CBS was meant to blocked leakages of tax collection in the State.

 

According to the Chairman,” with Central Billing System you needed just to press the button if your iPad and that is all by typing name of ministries, department or agencies and you will see the amount generated.

 

While fielding question on the effect of lockdown on Internally Generated Revenue of the State,Ahmed Yakubu explained that Nasarawa State witnessed a sharp drop in IGR due to stay at home which started in February.

 

“The State experienced a 15 percent drop in IGR which started in February because both the private and public sectors were affected”.

 

He stated that the State Government explode another means of generating Internally Generated Revenue by tapping from the informal sector in a bid to move the state forward.

 

“During the lockdown, we have to do the needful by ensuring that the system move and that was what exactly we did”.

 

The Chairman called on taxpayers in the State to redouble their effort by ensuring the payment of tax at the appropriate time, saying good things like road, water, schools, hospitals, and amongst other social amenities are the dividend of tax.

 

Speaking on the issue of tax evasion in the State by either bank and private business owners, The Chairman buttressed that said the State Revenue Board has set up a monthly monitoring team to checkmate tax defaulters in the State.

 

“We put in place a monitoring team to avoid the closure of banks and other business premises operating in the State”.

 

He listed one amongst the laudable achievement of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the State to include the digitalization of the State Board of Internal Revenue Service.
