Resist Manual Receipt By Any Tax Collector In Nasarawa State

The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue, Ahmed Yakubu has said all formal institutions in the State must key into the Central Billing System introduced by the State Government with the sole aim of blocking leakages in revenue generation in the State.

 

The Chairman gave the disclosure in an interview with selected Journalists at Revenue House, He maintained that all Ministries, Department, and Agencies have since key into the CBS

 

This interview was coming at a time some media outfits reported that a cabinet member in the State was involved in tax racketeering by issuing manual receipts.

 

Appealing to Journalists in the State to assist the Revenue Board with useful information that may lead to the arrest of imposters and gullible appointees collecting tax with manual receipts.

 

Ahmed Yakubu said the board would not condone such I’ll get behavior from those at the behest of affairs

 

Calling on taxpayers to resist the issuance of manual receipts by any tax collectors by reporting the matter to either the concerned authorities or security agencies.

 

He confirmed that scores of people parading as the tax collector’s in Karu Local Government, the gateway to the Federal Capital Territory were arrested by security agencies for issuing fake receipts.

 

“The Board arrested some imposters in Karu axis during our tour to the area and we handed them over to the State Commissioner of Justice”.

 

Ahmed Yakubu attributed the boost in Internally Generated Revenue under the current administration of Engineer Abdullahi Sule’s holistic approach for the establishment of Revenue recovery court and the introduction of CBS.

 

When asked about the manual receipts in circulation in some Local Governments with a titled “Treasury Receipt”, The explained that the Board of Internal Revenue and the Accountant General of the State have reached an agreement not to issue any other manual receipts.

“We have since stopped the issuance of manual receipts, for this reason, we alerted the Accountant General of the State to stop further issuance”, said Ahmed Yakubu.

 

The Chairman averred that the effect of COVID-19 which is lingering thereby affects revenue generation.
