Nasarawa Ministry Of Environment Okay With Compliance To End Of Year Sanitation Exercise

The Nasarawa State Government has expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by members of the public during the end of year 2023 environmental sanitation.
The General Manager of the Nasarawa State Environmental Protection Agency, Engineer Yusuf Adeka gave the commendation while addressing newsmen after the December sanitation exercise on Saturday in the State Capital.
The GM described the level of compliance as quite impressive and attributed the result to keen support from security agencies, traditional rulers, media as well as inspection teams from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
He also applauded residents, especially the shop owners for clearing drainages around their environments and shops as well as motorists for keeping off the roads during the exercise.
The General Manager also appealed to the Chairmen of various Local Government Areas to key into the exercise to ensure its success.
Adeka explained that the exercise would be strengthened in 2024 to achieve the essence of reintroducing it in 2019 by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Calling on members of the public to always keep their environments clean to guard against the outbreak of communicable diseases.
“Residents should cooperate more with the Government towards ensuring that the State is clean in their best interest.
“If the environment was kept clean, it will guard against a possible outbreak of any communicable disease, thereby ensuring improved healthy living of the people,’’ he added.
He buttressed that Nasarawa State would sustain its status of cleanliness, as the Government has set aside the last Saturday of every month for environmental sanitation.
No fewer than 15 persons were nabbed in Lafia for alleged violation of environmental sanitation.
The General Manager of the sanitation agency explained that they were caught transacting their businesses and driving around during the hours set aside for the exercise.
