Nasarawa Govt To Partner Head Hunters, Vigilantes ,Others To Tackle Insecurity

Nasarawa State Governor, Engr Abdullahi  Sule says the State Government has intensify effort towards tackling insecurity like kidnapping, banditry, raping, armed robbery by partnering head hunters, vigilantes and other security apparatus in the State.

 

The Governor disclosed this during an inspection of ongoing police training school at Endehu community of Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Council.

 

The Governor said  the project would have multiple benefits to the State which he listed to include  security, economic  as well create job opportunity to the teaming youths.

 

He explained that from the construction work currently ongoing, more than 90 percent of workers engaged and food vendors, petty traders are from the host community thereby boosting the economic activities of the area and State.

 

He further said that the training college which is the third for police in the country.

 

“The Mobile Police has the one for desert training in Goza, Borno State, another one for forest training in Ila in Osun State and this one in Nasarawa State is for hill training.

 

“This place popularly called many have gone is notorious for accident and kidnapping and armed robbery.

 

“This is the same hill where the my Deputy, Emmanuel Akabe was attacked last year.

 

“The hill where the training school is sited, is not in Akwanga my Local Government or Lafia where the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu comes from, but in Nassarawa-Eggon,” the Governor added.

 

He explained that the land for the building of the school was donated to the Police by the Nasarawa State Government.

 

Governor Sule added that the State Government had paid full compensation to all the land owners to pave way for the smooth execution of the project.

 

He said the Government is working out modalities to compensate the commoners for the additional land acquired.
