…Donates 30 Motorcycles To Security Agencies

Governor Hyacinth Alia has announced the deployment of three operational military units to the Sankera area of Benue State as part of efforts to strengthen security in Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo Local Government Areas.
The announcement was made on Monday, August 24, 2026, during a town hall meeting with stakeholders of the Sankera political bloc held in Katsina-Ala.
In addition to the military deployment, the Governor also donated 30 motorcycles to security agencies operating in the area. He said the motorcycles will aid general patrols and enable faster response when called upon.
The Governor is currently on a statewide thank you tour to appreciate members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for electing him at the party primaries to fly the gubernatorial flag in the 2027 general elections.
As part of the tour, Governor Alia is holding town hall meetings with stakeholders grouped according to the 11 federal constituencies across the state.
He disclosed that the three military units will be stationed at specific locations within Sankera to improve coverage and response time.
The designated bases are Agu in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Anyiin in Logo Local Government Area, and Azendeshi in Ukum Local Government Area.
The Governor said the decision to site the units in the three council areas was informed by the need to address security challenges and restore calm to communities that have experienced persistent attacks.
On infrastructure, Governor Alia announced plans for the construction of a new dam in the state with a projected capacity of 460 megawatts.
He explained that the dam project is expected to provide reliable water supply and support electricity generation for residents across Benue.
The Governor also used the forum to address concerns surrounding ranching in the state, a topic that has generated debate among communities.
He assured stakeholders that his administration will not impose ranching on any community without the consent of the people and the government.
“Nobody will force us to cede even an inch of our land to the pastoralist for any purpose. If that must happen, I can assure you, it will not be this time that I am still the Governor of Benue State,” Governor Alia said.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, the town hall meetings will continue in the coming days across the remaining federal constituencies in the state.
