Nasarawa State government in a concerted effort to make public schools functional has earmarked a whooping N3, 000,000 Million as monthly up-keep.
Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Aliyu, the Commissioner of Education said the State government has reiterated its determination towards making government schools ranging from Secondary, Junior and Primary Schools more viable.
He however averred that a whopping N12M was expended quarterly for the same purpose while other essential materials like chalk, duster and dossiers are available.
Hon.Tijjani further debunked lack of chalk in public schools in the State, he however described teachers spreading rumors of purchasing chalk from their pocket money as mischief makers.
The Commissioner said the outgoing administration is doing everything within the possible shortest time.
While speaking on the free Secondary and Primary education initiated by governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for the past three years, the Commissioner buttressed that Secondary and primary education remains free in Nasarawa State.
“Or are you saying all aspects of education including free uniforms before you will said we are operating free Secondary and primary education ?,No place that education is totally free”, he added.
