The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Education, Honorable John Mamman has confirmed that over 50 Public schools were destroyed by windstorms recently.
The Commissioner listed some of the affected Local Governments in the recent windstorm, including Iponu and Agbashi in Doma Local Government, Aloshi and Keana, The administrative head of Keana Local Government.
He, however, said during an exclusive interview with Universal Reporters listed Wamba, Keffi, Nasarawa, Toto, and Kokona Local Governments, respectively as well as other communities.
The Commissioner attested that the State Governor has since directed the State Ministry of Works and Transport to take stock of the schools ravaged by windstorms.
He called on principals in the State to encourage tree planting programme which he averred tree planting will replenish old trees and will serve as windbreakers.
The Commissioner expressed shock over the destruction of the examination hall in Kokona and other Local Governments, expressing concern over the lack of examination halls in some of the affected public schools in the State as he disclosed that the Governor is doing his best to address the situation.
