Nasarawa Govt Offers 40 Percent COVID-19 Hazard Allowances To Striking DASH Workers

The Chief Medical Director, Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia,Dr. Ikrama Hassan has revealed that  the State Government in an effort to end the one week warning strike embarked by the health workers has offered 40 percent of Federal Government hazard allowance,Dr.Ikrama said.

 

The CMD gave the indication during a press briefing, He said the timing of the  strike at this  precarious period of a global pandemic was wrongly timed

 

Appealing  to the Joint Unions of workers in the hospital to call off the ongoing one week warning strike for the interest of the broad-spectrum populace.

 

He said the State Government had made an offer to implement 40 percent out of the 50 percent Special COVID 19 Hazard and Inducement Allowance initiated by the Federal Government meant to cushion the trepidation faced by health workers.

 

Dr.Hassan Ikrama hinted that  the increasing health needs of the citizens of the state calls for a collective efforts

 

“I urged the striking workers to exercise patience and understanding by shift grounds and return to work”.

 

The Chief Medical Director stated that adequate arrangements had been put in place to attend to COVID 19 patients on admission in the hospital.

 

It would be recalled that staff of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia last Monday declared a one week warning strike to demand for payment of COVID 19 Special Hazard and Inducement Allowance, inappropriate Personal Protective Equipment and non-implementation of 13 years promotions.

 

Dr.Ikrama said the State with the outbreak of COVID-19, the State  recorded a total of 113 cases, He however buttressed that the State recorded 4 deaths while over 700 test conducted.
