Nasarawa First Lady Empowerment Scheme ,Mc CEF Graduated 196 Students By Rabiu Omaku,Lafia

As part of her social responsibility to halve the rising spate of joblessness in Nasarawa state, The Nasarawa state first Lady, Salamatu Umaru Tanko Al-Makura under her Non-Governmental Organization has graduated 196 students.

The first lady disclosed this at the 3rd graduation ceremony of the students from the skill Acquisition Centre of her pet project of Mc Cef under the Youth and women Empowerment arm of the centre, Salamatu said the effort is to augment the holistic commitment of the chief executive in fighting unemployment in the state.

“It is evidential that empowerment has a link to Good Governance and growth that is more pro-poor and fully aware that empowerment is significant to the development of every society”.

Adding that “The World Bank identified empowerment as the process of increasing the capacity of individual or groups to make choices and to desire actions and outcomes, Central to this process is actions which build the individual and improve their efficiency”.

The 196 students were graduated from the eight department comprises  of Fashion Kampala, Beads making, mama’s bag saloon,weilding and home management,Tailoring,Material worth millions of naira were donated to them, Facilities donated include sewing  machine and desktop computer.

The first lady asserted that Mc CEF will partner Nasarawa state ministries and agencies especially in the areas of primary healthcare and education, she however affirmed that maternal health is the backbone of Mc CEF.

“We have received a lot of cooperation with the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency in the areas of immunization and child welfare, reducing maternal mortality has been very encouraging because of the awareness among others, women now attend antenatal and post natal clinics”.

The first lady further said Mc CEF is partnering the state Government towards improving quality healthcare to the grassroots, Salamatu Al-Makura applauded traditional rulers in the state for ensuring a polio free state, and she also commended the monarchs for ensuring the successful immunization exercise in the state.
