Nasarawa Assembly Sympathies With Casual Workers In The Assembly-Chairman Information

Irked over the casualization of quantum of staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, The Speaker, Rt.Honorable Ibrahim Balarabe has expressed discontentment over the plight of staff serving for twenty five years as casual.

 

The Chairman House Committee on Information, Honorable Mohammed Omadefu disclosed this during an exclusive interview with Journalists at the Assembly.

 

Hon.Omadefu (APC) representing Keana constituency described the plight of casual staff of the Assembly especially those that have put in their best for more than twenty years as quit boring while considering the current economic challenges.

 

“The Speaker in one of our discussion expressed total shock when he discovered majority of the staff are casual workers”.

 

Saying the Assembly is on top of the situation and would do the needful within the shortest possible time if the economic situation improves.

 

While commenting on the increasing number of civil servants omitted in the last payment of salary, Honorable Omadefu disclosed that frantic effort has been taken to tackle the abnormally.

 

It would be recalled that over 200 civil servants in the State were omitted; The most heated ministry is Education with over sixty civil servants, The Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital with over thirty, The Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS) with over 30 staff names omitted.

 

It was confided that the omission also affected names of highly placed traditional rulers, Commissioners in the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC).

 

The Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Musa Dangana whose tenure elapsed in the last two weeks and was subsequently screened by the State House of Assembly alongside his members declined comment on the precise number of civil servants in the service of Nasarawa State.

 

“You know every day civil servants died while others retired, and with this I can’t make any comment so as to contradict myself”, Just give us a short time to tighten up, Dangana pleaded.
