Nasarawa ALGON Chairman Lament Presence Of Ghost Pensioners, Omission Of Genuine Beneficiaries

Nasarawa State Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) has expressed displeasure over the presence of ghost pensioners discovered in the Local Government pension payroll.

The ALGON Chairman, Suleiman Wambai disclosed this while fielding questions from Journalists penultimate week in Lafia, he disclosed that a lot of ghost pensioners were discovered during the recent screening exercise.

“From all the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, a lot of ghost pensioners were discovered”.

“Pensioners who are already death but their names appeared in the list and there are other pensioners who are alive but their names were omitted from the list.

“The essence of the verification exercise is to ascertain the actual amount of money that was supposed to be paid, if it is 100 percent lets know and if it is 20 percent we equally know,” he added.

He explained that though he was not the person that conducted the screening exercise and the report is yet to be submitted to him as the ALGON Chairman.

Suleiman Wambai also disclosed that the authorities of LGAs in the state have also concluded the screening exercise for the youths employed under the N-Power scheme.

“We have also discovered that some non-indigenes have short-changed indigenes of the state and we have already sent the report.

“Even within the state we discovered that some persons from other LGA were given employment under different LGA,” he added.

He said the report has already been submitted to the appropriate authority awaiting further action to correct the abnormally.
