Nasarawa Adopting ASEI, PDSI At The Right Direction—NSUBEB Chairman

The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon Mohammed Dan’azumi said the adoption and domestication of Activity-based, Student-centered, Experiment-oriented, and Improvisation (ASEI) principles with Plan, Do, See and Improve (PDSI).

 

He disclosed this while declaring the 7-day workshop open at Government Science Secondary School, Lafia.

 

Mohammed Dan’azumi opined that the new approach remains the most effective teaching and learning method in the state.

 

The Introduction of ASEI and PDSI by the Federal Government was a quest for an insatiable education, he further added that the initiative was to make learners self-reliant.

 

He however in addition said the new approach was aimed at building a technologically inclined nation by removing the general phobia in the teaching and learning of core subjects.

 

Hon. Dan’azumi buttressed that strengthening mathematics and Science Education (SMASE) through the Federal Ministry of Education, The Japanese International Corporative Agency to transfer its technical know-how in the fields of Mathematics and Science.

 

The executive chairman maintained that the entire process would set the nation on a threshold with world superpower countries like China, America, France, Germany, Japan, etc.

 

Mohammed Dan’azumi unveiled that Nasarawa State has attended phase two, Cycle 1,2,3, and had successfully cascaded the training to 200 core teachers and the senatorial zone.

 

“The theme of SMASE Cycle 1 was on Attitudinal change of teachers teaching Mathematics and Science subjects, saying the training was apt, timely and effective while the theme of SMASE Cycle 2 harped on BETTER ASEI giving room to lesson plan and delivered in each class.

 

The executive chairman also hinged on Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor with the sole aim of changing the narrative in teaching and learning processes.

 

He commended the Universal Basic Education Commission for standing firm to ensure the bumper success of the program.

 

The representative of UBEC, Nnena Abalon in her speech maintained the Commission is in Lafia to monitor the week one training of teachers by Nsubeb.

 

Thanking the management of the board for selecting the beneficiaries not based on sentiment, stating that UBEC was impressed with the in-service training.
