My Husband’s Sudden Death, Still A Shocking News To Me -Mrs. Ezekiel Afon

The Wife of Late Member Representing Pengana constituency, Hon Ezekiel Afon has said the sudden death of her husband remains very shocking and heart touching to the family, she added; “we are yet to believe that something like that will happen at the time we all saw him hale and hearty, in fact, I refuse to accept the news when it was broken to me.

His death  is a big blow to the family members as well as constituents, Bassa Local Government Council, and Plateau State in general, we also missed him a lot especially the people of Pengana constituency because he is a perfect person that  his the desire to improve the lives of the vulnerable people and  to ensure that everyone progresses. He would do whatever it takes to move things forward. We described him as someone that is easy going and a caring person; one of his greatest feelings all through was to impact the lives of people, touching each family in his constituents.

The late Ezekiel Afon reelection was not a surprise for us who know his contribution to the welfare of his constituent. What he always tell his children is that I want you to be greater than myself. I don’t want you to remain where I stopped but for you to aspire greater than my present position in life, so we are going to miss his advice, counseling.

Mrs Helen Afon who managed to explain further said the good relationship she and her husband shared, said as a family we thanked the constituency for the overwhelming support given to him during the electioneering campaign where he was given the second mandate to serve them but the cold hands of dead had snatched him away, living the children vulnerable to the world without fatherly protection.

The first son who is 27 year-old  and who is a student of Nigeria Television Authority, NTA Jos , Mr Nicolas Ezekiel Afon said, my dad’s death, it was shocking news on that day  ,we were celebrating his victory after the Saturday election but celebration was cut short with tears when my mother entered and ask me to immediately call the doctor,  that my father  is not breathing again and we all rushed him to hospital and by the time we arrived the hospital the Doctor confirmed him dead.

I recall that early this year he was sick and they treated him and he went round to campaign and cast his vote. It’s sad because he is the breadwinner from his nuclear family down to his extended family and we are going to miss him greatly. I have not seen anybody who can do exactly to the people of Pengana constituency what he planned for his people.

They all loved him, he was elected under the platform of People Democratic Party, PDP,  and he defected to the APC, and sought reelection and won. His last word after he was declared the winner was God has made his way for everyone to enjoy what he has promised to the people of Pengana constituency.

Nicolas Ezekiel Afon said, my father, is someone that love education especially for us. I’m the first son and we are greatly missing him, his fatherly counseling, wisdom. Since he died I really don’t understand myself because we discussed my business plan with him where he said I should give him time.

He said, “now I want to sit down and work for people. Now that death took him away I don’t know what to do because I’m still a student and practicing photography and videos. Our younger sister Precious Ezekiel Afon has been down since the news was broken to us, others include, Promise Ezekiel, Nathaniel Ezekiel who is still studying outside the country. Now he is there we don’t know how to help him with other needs over there.

I thank the government that they know the right thing to do especially to people who are in our condition by taking the right decision to help the people of Pengana constituency and the immediate family. He wants the people to acquire education, construction of roads and building of unity amongst diverse people because of their peculiar differences in terms of tribe, believes and backgrounds.
