Ministry For Local Government Used N103 Million From Paris/London Club Refund To Augment And Pay Pension-Commissioner

The Nasarawa state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Honorable Ahmed Aliyu Tijjani has said the sum of N103m was used to augment the pension of local government pensioners in the state.

The commissioner stated this at the end of Joint Acount Committee of December,Aliyu Tijjani hinted that N103m was used from the Paris/London club refund bringing the entire amount to N173m as against the N70m paid to local government pensioners.

He affirmed that only retires within the range of August 2011 would benefit full pension of 100% while those that retired after august 2011 would only be given fifty percent of their pension.

The commissioner averred that the thirteen local governments of the state got a total sum of N1.367,450,468.13k as December allocation, he in addition disclosed that a total N39m was expended on the salary of traditional rulers.

“There is 5% deduction for traditional rulers (N39m),1%administrative charges (N7m)including other statutory charges bringing the total deduction to N191m and the local governments are left with a net of N510,000,000”,he added.
