Bauchi APC In Crisis As Party Members Demands Resignation Of State Party Chair, Uba Ahmed Nana

The All Progressives Party (APC) in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State asked the state Chairman of the party Uba Ahmed Nana to resign his position immediately.

The Deputy Chairman, Korau Bununu who led other executive and officials of the party from Tafawa Balewa, stated this at a press conference held at the NUJ Secretariat Bauchi, on Thursday.

Treasurer of the party, Williams Wadni who read the text on their behalf , said the call became imperative because Uba Nana is currently holding another public office in violation of the party’s constitution.

The text was presented at the press conference, in company with the member representing Lere/Bula constituency in the State Assembly, Mohammed Aminu Tukur and other party faithful from Tafawa Balewa.

They accused the embattled Chairman Uba Ahmed Nana of allegedly promoting intimidation and harassment of members of the party perceived to be loyal to Senator Ali Wakili (Bauchi South) and Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

Citing Article 17, subsection 4 and Article 21 of the APC constitution, they demanded that the state APC chairman should vacate his office as he is currently the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State.

“Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the current Minister of Information had to forfeit his seat of being the National Publicity Secretary of APC to accept his ministerial job. It will be interesting that Alhaji Uba Ahmed Nana vacates his seat as the State chairman of the party by being the current Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal University Wukari,” Wudni who was reading from the text said.

Reiterating the suspension of the APC chairman from Tafawa Balewa, Alhaji Minjinyawa Ardo, they expressed regret that despite following all the due processes, described the purported suspension of Senator Wakili, Aminu Tukur and the Bununu ward Chairman Korai Maidawa, by Ardo and his cohorts as forgery as he had been long suspended from the party.

They then called on the National Executive Committee of the party and other relevant organs of the party to see reason to intervene in the crisis affecting the party in Bauchi State.

“Having realised that the leadership of the party at the State level has sanctioned for division of loyalty to the elected members of the party occupying Government positions and having paved the way for rancour and sowing of seed of discord, the party at Tafawa Balewa Local Government Level , has accepted the resolution of the party at the ward”

Among others, they disclosed, the Executive Committee of the party at Tafawa Balewa has suspended Murtala Kundum, Danbaba Aminu, Musa Yisin and Ahmad Danrimi, leaders at both the ward and local government levels, from the party. They then called on the National Executive Committee of the party and other relevant organs of the party to see reason to intervene in the crisis affecting the party in Bauchi State.
