Medical Women’s Association Donates Water Scheme To IDPs NYSC Camp In Yola By Tom Garba,Yola

The Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) has constructed mini Water Scheme for IDPs in NYSC Damare camp, Girei local Government area of Adamawa state.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, wife of the state Governor Mrs. Hannatu Bala James Ngilari said the importance of water cannot be over emphasized, especially to the life of IDPS who were forced to flee from their normal places of abode. 
                                         
Mrs. Ngilari represented by the state Commissioner of Women Affairs, Mrs. Marlyn Danbabaye also called on other sisters organizations to emulate and commended the Association for its service to humanity.
Earlier in an address, National President of the Association Dr. Valerie Obot said, the Association which was established in 1976 aimed at extending voluntary hands to victims of war, conflict and natural disasters, pointing out that, the project was part of activities lined up under a project known as project help which was initiated by one of its members.
                                                                    
Dr. Valerie Obot also explained that, she is certain that the provision of the water scheme at the IDPS camp, will assist in reducing the high rate of rape, especially among women and children which according to her are exposed to as a result of shortage of water in various areas, as well as reduce of diarrhoea disease among children.
                           
In his remarks, Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) , Alh. Haruna Hamman Furo described the gesture as timely and commendable.
Responding, women leader of the IDPs Madam Fedilia Joseph thanked the Association and promised to make good use of it.

Among the speakers were, the Adamawa state MWAN chairperson Haj, Aishatu Barkindo Mustafa and that of Edo, Mrs. Anthonia Ngoku among others.
