Langtang General Hospital Shutdown, 29 Health Personnel Quarantined Over COVID-19

The Langtang North Local Government Council, Hon Ubandoma Joshua Laven has confirmed the two cases of COVID-19 and ordered for the closing down of the Langtang general hospital.

 

He spoke to our platform in Langtang North LGA via a phone call to confirm the outbreak of the virus to our correspondent in Jos.

 

Laven said, the council now have recorded its first covid-19 confirmed case from a laboratory scientist practitioner working with the General Hospital in Langtang .

 

He said two persons have been tested and confirmed positive for COVID-19, the infected persons have been taken to the isolation center in Jos for treatment and contact tracing has since commenced.

 

Hon Joshua Laven urged the people to remain calm and heed to the safety rules already set by the World Health Organization.

 

According to him, the council instructed that 29 health personnel were to be quarantined for two weeks including monitoring of their family members.

 

Laven warned people to obey the restriction order to reduce the risk of contracting the disease, the public should;

 

He advised that, people should always Use facemasks when leaving the house.

 

  1. Adapt to the culture of regular hand washing with soap and water.

 

  1. Regularly apply hand sanitizers.

 

  1. Equally important is maintaining social distancing

 

He explained further that with the relaxing of movement the road safety officer who is asthmatic visited his community in Benue state and returned back with the symptoms of virus.

 

Meanwhile, the health personnel quarantined is from pil-Gani who traveled to the neighbouring Local Government of Kanam LGA and contacted the infection.

 

He maintained that the council has taken a measure step to prevent the spread of the disease to the farming communities to curtail the virus.
