The Adamawa Emirate Council under the leadership of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammad Mustafa Barkindo , on Friday stripped a former governor of the state, Murtala Nyako, and his son, Abdul’Aziz, of their traditional titles of Sarkin Yamma, and Sarkin Matasa respectively.
The younger Nyako is a senator representing Adamawa central. The Adamawa Emirate council also dismissed the former governor from the membership of the council.
According to a statement signed by the Lamido Adamawa, he said the decision was necessary because the two title holders have been indicted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC and arraigned before a court of law for alleged corruption.
Lamido Barkindo was installed during the former governor’s reign. Mr. Nyako also appointed the monarch’s son as commissioner.
