Kano State Govt. To Construct Multi Billion Naira Under Pass At Bukavu Barrack Junction In Kano City

Kano state government is to construct a vehicle underpass at cost of N1.2 billion, at the busy Bukavu Barrack junction adjoining Kofar Ruwa, along Katsina road – Aminu Kano way, in Kano metropolis.

Similarly, the sum of N589, 580, 001.03 was approved for the engineering design of the underpass, which is the second such civil engineering project embarked upon by the Ganduje administration in the past 15 months.

The state Commissioner for Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba announced this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the state weekly executive council meeting.

He explained that besides facilitating vehicle traffic, the project is one of the infrastructure being provided by the government as part of determination to enhance the physical status of the state capital as a mega city.

The Commissioner further stated that N38.9 million was set aside for routine maintenance on selected roads in Kano metropolis while N28. 174 million would be released to augment cost of construction of the earlier awarded contract of Marhaba-Farm Center road project.

Also approved by the council, according to Comrade Garba, is the construction of covered drainages at Adakawa, Yantandu-Limanci, Karofin Gangamau-Kabuwaya and Zaitawa-Bakin Zuwo-‘Yanmota, in Dala local government, at the cost of N91. 77 million and a similar project at Kabuga, Gwale local government area, at the cost of N22. 1 million.

In addition, he maintained that N74. 38 million was earmarked for de-siltation and maintenance works on some drainages within the state capital to facilitate free flow of water and better environmental management.

To further enhance security in the state, the Commissioner revealed that the Ganduje administration consented to release N305 million for the procurement of 25 utility vehicles for the state Command of Nigeria Police and N19. 4 million for purchase of communication and working materials for the command.

Comrade Garba also announced that the council agreed to make available N86. 59 million for the provision of essential equipment and furniture at 10 Basic Health Clinics constructed by Dangote Foundation in the state as well as Sabon Sara Maternal and Child Health Clinic and Imam Halliru Memorial Maternity and Pediatric Clinic.
