Kabong Community Leaders Foil Fresh Crisis Over Land Dispute Between Residents

Tension as Community leaders foiled fresh crises in Kabong suburbs of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State were three families alleged to have lost 20.5 million Naira to illegal invasion of their privacy by one Mr Mathew Pwajok Pam in the company of Nigeria Police Enforcement Team in the early hours of Tuesday, the 13th Day of January, 2026.

The self-acclaimed land owner, Mathew Pwajok Pam arrived at the residents with an    Appeal Court  Judgment obtained between him and one  Tadi Gazu dated 14/1/25 that the appeal court has delivered judgment in his favour, so the entire community should vacate the premises.

The action of Mr Pwajok created confusion when the enforcement team stormed the landere community, forcing house owners to leave the land.

The leaders of the community immediately mobilized themselves to prevent the breakdown of law and order behind GSS Kabong where Mr Mathew Pwajok Pam is claiming the rightful ownership of the family land that was sold without his consent.

According to available facts, Mr Pam mobilized the enforcement team to the residents of Mr Ekene  Uzoma, Yakubu Dachollom and Jonathan Maachi, at about 7:42 am and he was accompanied by some thugs as they came and began to remove properties outside, forcing some of their unmovable items to break.

Our medium spoke to their counsel, Barr. C. J. Nnaji, who expressed shock over the action of  Mathew Pwajok Pam, who wanted to throw the community into a fresh crisis, considering the challenges of insecurity bedevilling the state.

He urged the government to investigate the problem of land dispute between residents of Kabong and self-acclaimed Mathew Pwajok Pam, who is now parading himself as the original owner of the lands, which expanded to the whole of GSS Kabong.

Nnaji explained further that the judgment obtained from the Appeal Court has nothing to do with his clients because the Jos Division of the Appeal court in suit, CA/J/31/2013 where he claimed possession from justice Adamu  Jauro the presiding judge that set aside the High Court judgment between Mathew Pwajok Pam challenging Tadi Gazu did not include his clients and other landowners in the area as necessary parties.

Mr and Mrs  Ekene Uzoma, the affected victim, told journalists that they were preparing their children to go to school that early morning when a group of armed personnel stormed their home, urging them to come out, and they started packing out all their properties outside, causing damage. 

Uzoma disclosed that he had left the shop when his wife called for him to rush back home that some unknown number of security has invaded his residence.

He arrived home he discovered that his savings, the amount is yet unknown, and properties worth 20 million were lost and damaged.

Uzoma stressed that the community pleaded with the enforcement agency to stop and inquire whether the compounds marked by Mr Mathew Pwajok Pam were part of their land, but they couldn’t listen.

He explained that the government agencies climbed down and assaulted him were he loss 500,000 .00 two of his phones were seized during the upheaval, including his two phones, which were seized as he sustained various degrees of injuries.

One of the community leaders, Vice Chairman, DSP Ujah John, condemned the action of the security personnel that accompanied the enforcement team, as their action almost sparked off another misunderstanding between the entire community, instead of following the proper channel in seeking clarification on the land sold to the occupants.

He frowned that when they arrived in the early hours the went straight to three compounds and started evicting their properties outside, forcing the residents with no other option than to mobilize and stop them.

John advised government agencies to take proactive measures in preventing breakdown of law and order, but whenever a law enforcement agent embarks on an unlawful act, like what happened is bad.

Ekene Uzoma stressed that his wife made a call to him at about 8 am that some law enforcement agents came to the house and were evicted their property outside, causing some of the electronics to spoil.

He added, upon my arrival, he went straight to where his saving and discovered that the money worth millions was lost there, and the entire home was turned upside down with properties scattered around.

However, it’s was gathered that the case between Mathew Pwajok Pam challenging Tadi Gazu in suit No, CA /J/31/2013 and Honourable Justice  Adamu Jauro of the Appeal court on the 14/1/2025  delivered judgement against Gazu but the affected families were not party to the suit.

The law is very clear on the enforcement of an order on someone else who is not a party to a suit, and Pwajok judgment didn’t specify whether the entire community should relocate to another area outside Landere, New deeper life church.

Mr Yakubu Dachollom told journalists that they bought the said land from one family for over 15 years ago, and nobody came to approach them that the area belongs to him, but Mr Mathew Pwajok Pam, sometimes last year connived with security agencies, and they were chased out.

He lamented that the family lost money during the operation, leading to the stealing of his properties, even though he didn’t have any business transaction with the Pwajok family on the said land.
